The world-famous actor and director John Malkovich is preparing his own show, which will be performed on the stage of the Ivan Vazov National Theatre in Sofia during the 2024/2025 theater season. Rehearsals with the Bulgarian actors are expected to begin in September next year.

Bernard Shaw's comedy "Arms and the Man" takes place in Bulgaria and most of the characters are Bulgarian. The plot is based on the Battle of Slivnitsa during the Serbo-Bulgarian War in 1885. The play was first staged in April 1894 in London.

At the beginning of this year, John Malkovich appeared on the stage of the National Theater together with the Lithuanian actress Ingeborga Dapkunaite in the performance "In the Solitude of Cotton Fields" by Bernard-Marie Koltes, directed by Timofey Kulyabin.
A few days ago, he also participated in the musical-theatre show "Infernal Comedy: Confessions of a Serial Killer" in Bulgaria's coastal city Varna.
