Plamena Mitkova wins silver at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships in Jerusalem

Bulgarian athlete Plamena Mitkova won silver it the women’s long jump at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships in Jerusalem. Mitkova equalled her season's best of 6.54m in her fourth attempt. Ireland’s Elizabeth Ndudi won gold after jumping 6.56 m on the third of her six attempts in the final of the event.

Plamena Mitkova, who won the long jump at the World Junior Athletics Championships in 2022, earned the second medal for Bulgaria in Jerusalem after Bozhidar Saraboyukov's silver in the men‘s long jump competition. On Thursday evening, Bozhidar Saraboyukov and Lachezar Valev are to participate at the triple jump final.
