406 people have been detained for human trafficking, 612 – for drug trafficking in August. More than 3,700 migrants have been detained in this country, most of them from Afghanistan, Syria, Morocco and Pakistan, indicate data from the specialized inter-administrative unit between the prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of the Interior, set up to help in the investigation during pre-litigation procedures, BNR’s Dobrina Karambolova reports. Angel Papalezov from the National Police Directorate General stated that Bulgaria is one of the countries the main stream of migrants crosses.

In an interview with the BNR Petar Todorov, who resigned as Ministry of the Interior Secretary General stated, that during the last two months the migratory pressure has escalated. “Whereas until June, the refugee centres were 60% full, now they are literally spilling over and are filled to more than 45% over their capacity, i.e. the migratory pressure really is enormous,” he said.
