Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov started his participation in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Frankfurt with a victory. He beat the German Jan-Lennard Struff 3:1 (14:17, 18:11, 17:9, 14:13) in the first round of the group stage.

The rules require each player to choose a nickname, and Grigor's was G-Unit, after the hip-hop group in which the rapper 50 cent participated. Another special rule is that tennis players play four games of eight minutes and points are awarded according to games won. In the event of a 2-2 tie, there is a so-called sudden death, which means that whoever reaches two consecutive points becomes the winner.

In the next two rounds of the group phase the Bulgarian will face Frenchman Benoit Paire and Norwegian Casper Ruud.

The Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) is an international individual tennis league that was founded in 2020. The competition was organized in response to the disruption of the tennis season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
