Eighth-grader Andrey Stefanov, who studies in the First Private Mathematical High School in Sofia, won a gold medal at the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI) in Georgia. He became first in a competition against 92 participants from 24 countries, the Ministry of Education announced.
Three students of the Science and Mathematics High School in Shumen won a silver and two bronze medals. Serkan Rashid, a student in the 8th grade, has a silver medal. Ivo Ivanov and Simona Hristova grabbed the bronze. The team leaders are Iliyan Yordanov from the Institute of Mathematics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Dimitar Dobrev from the University of Shumen. The Bulgarian team placed third in the overall medal ranking.
