Vice President Iliana Iotova recommended not to exaggerate the results of the local elections for the fate of the government, as the Constitution mandates the separation of powers.

"Let's leave the people at peace to make the best judgment and choose their representatives in local government and mayors. As for the government, their problems are much bigger, more intractable as of today, and if anyone thinks now that the local elections can serve as an excuse, they have made a mistake," she said.

Iliana Iotova also said that the presidential institution stood behind the local government and welcomed legislation for a more serious decentralization of the municipalities, so that a large part of the taxes could remain in them.

Iliana Iotova participated in the opening of the 30th edition of the Bulgarian Plum Festival in Troyan.
