Bulgaria will write down in an official document the date January 1, 2025 as the target date for adopting the euro, according to a project published on the government website.

The country missed January 1, 2024 - the previous target date for the introduction of the European currency, after the caretaker cabinet did not send a report on the fulfillment of the criteria for euro area membership, as it said the necessary legal changes were not completed because of the political crisis.

The current parliament has adopted the key acts and during the week the European Central Bank gave a positive assessment to the new law on the BNB that should enter into force with Bulgaria’s accession to the Eurozone.
