Bulgaria could theoretically withdraw the territorial just transition plans that were submitted to the European Commission, an EU source told the BNR’s correspondent in Brussels Angelina Piskova. The EU source clarifies that if Bulgaria does not want to lose money under the Just Transition Fund, these plans should be approved by the European Commission by the end of the year.
The source recalled that negotiations are currently underway and noted that the withdrawal will make it difficult for both sides. Miners and energy workers, who have been blocking roads in Bulgaria for a week, are demanding the withdrawal of the submitted territorial just transition plans.
