Spirituality, education and patriotism are at the basis of the progress, unity, strength and self-esteem of the Bulgarian nation, President Rumen Radev said in an address on the occasion of National Awakeners’ (Enlighteners) Day.

“Today, our children look to the future through technologies but it is enlightenment that takes us back to who we are, to our roots. Today, tomorrow, and for all time we shall need the moral pillars of Bulgaria so we may not forget who we are, so we may remember the most important lesson of all – the power of enlightenment guiding us through the tests of time,” Rumen Radev said.

On National Awakeners’ Day, a national flag-hoisting ceremony took place in front of the presidency building and the head of state salutes the national guards.
