“We submitted a motion of no confidence on behalf of Bulgarian Socialist Party for Bulgaria, Vazrazhdane and There Us Such a People, the motive being the government’s inability to ensure the national security and defence of the country,” the deputy chair of the Bulgarian Socialist Party parliamentary group Atanas Zafirov said in parliament.

This issue is the most vivid illustration of the fact that the government is incapable of responding adequately to the challenges the country faces. The various geopolitical crises are deepening. Instead of ensuring stability and calm, the government is contributing to these crises affecting us directly, Atanas Zafirov added.

Asked whether now is the right time to submit a motion of no confidence, the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Korneliya Ninova said that “some of the motives for the motion is Schengen. As you can see there is no movement, no progress there”.
