Part of the area around the St. Alexander Nevski cathedral in the centre of Sofia is now a pedestrian zone.

This is one of the first decisions by the new mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev, in response to a request submitted years ago by Boris Bonev from Save Sofia, and supported by almost 20,000 people.  In connection with this, traffic will be rerouted along the streets in the area. Car traffic across St. Alexander Nevski square will now take place in one lane only past parliament building.
