The film "Blaga’s Lessons" directed by Stephan Komandarev entered the predictions of international film critics regarding the likely contenders for the Oscar award for best international film. Bulgaria’s Oscar entry was mentioned in publications of the Hollywood Reporter and Screen International, BTA reported.

''Bulgarian entry Blaga’s Lessons by Stephan Komandarev also comes with a strong festival pedigree. Komandarev helped Bulgaria reach the Oscars shortlist for the first and only time in 2010 with The World Is Big And Salvation Lurks Around The Corner, and his migrant drama The Judgment was submitted in 2016'', Screen International said.
