The Bulgarian national women’s chess team earned their 5th successive victory at the European Team Chess Championship in Budva, and with 14 points, came one more step closer to winning the first title in history.
In the penultimate 8th round, the Bulgarian girls won by 2.5-1.5 points against Poland. Just as with the win against France, Bulgaria once again took the lead with 2-0 victories after wins with the white figures by Nurgyul Salimova and Beloslava Krasteva. The team needed just 0.5 point more, and it was won by Antoaneta Stefanova who reached the much-needed draw versus Monika Socko. This success guarantees a medal but the team will have to play, at the same level, versus Georgia on Monday for the gold.
