Minister of Health Hristo Hinkov stated, at a briefing, that he fired the director of the biggest hospital Pirogov over serious financial irregularities ascertained in the audit report after a probe at the emergency hospital, BNR’s Tsvetelina Stoyanova reports. Valentin Dimitrov’s dismissal caused serious turmoil among the partners in the government, and today, the leader of GERB party Boyko Borissov even warned that “whenever anyone has “taken on” Pirogov, their government has fallen”.

“Pirogov’s financial losses have increased by 7 million Leva compared to last year. The capital of the company is below the sum on record, which means it is decapitalized,” Minister Hinkov explained, and added that Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov was acquainted with the audit report, and that the prosecutor’s office had initiated a probe.
