A fake video with the image and voice of the Bulgarian president has been removed from the Internet, the Interior Ministry's press centre said. The immediate action by the specialised services of the General Directorate for Combating Organised Crime was taken upon a signal from the Head of State's administration.

The Presidential Administration had informed the competent authorities of a scam involving a video circulating on social networks linking President Rumen Radev to an advertisement for the Lukoil company. The video misuses Radev's image and voice in the alleged advertisement and imitates a TV report.

The video was AI-generated, the Interior Ministry said, assuring that the team of the Cyber Security Department of the General Directorate of the Interior Ministry would be relentless in dealing with the authors of such fake news videos.
