On the day of national mourning, the embassy of the Czech Republic in Bulgaria has lowered its flag to half-mast in memory of the victims of the Prague University mass shooting. Mourning candles are placed in front of the embassy building in Sofia. The EU flag is also at half-mast.

Czech media reported that the shooting at Charles University was the country's worst mass shooting in decades.

According to Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, the tragedy in which 14 people were killed and 25 others injured was not linked to terrorism and organized crime, noting that "it was the work of a lone person". He called the incident "a horrific act for which there is no justification". Czech President Petr Pavel said he was shocked by the violence.
