The 2024 budget of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia will be presented for public discussion by mid-January, Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev said in a final report for 2023 published on Facebook. With the adoption of the budget, 109 investment projects worth nearly EUR 51 million have been approved for funding. Work on them should be completed by the end of 2026, said Vasil Terziev. The mayor also pointed out that a solution has been found for the missing funds for the city's water and wastewater infrastructure.

As regards the stopped Simeonovo Lift in Vitosha Mountain Vasil Terziev said that it is not clear when it will become operational again, and that more buses will be provided on key routes to compensate for the lack of service.

"I wish that together we can make Sofia a better city to live in. We cannot succeed without each one of you and your active participation", said the Mayor of Sofia.
