Pre-arrival/pre-departure declarations for high fiscal risk goods in force from 3 January

The National Revenue Agency (NRA) today introduced a mandatory pre-arrival/pre-departure declaration system for the transport of goods with a high fiscal risk. These include meat, milk, butter, eggs, fruit and vegetables, nuts, etc.

The measure applies to shipments carried by trucks of more than 3.5 tonnes leaving the territory of a third country and arriving in Bulgaria, as well as to shipments leaving and arriving in Bulgaria.

The cargo must be declared to the NRA in advance. The NRA system generates a unique tracking number (UTN), which must be given to the truck driver or the person accompanying the goods. The UTN is valid for 14 days.
