The date for the abolition of checks at the land borders of the Schengen area will be discussed in 2024, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel in Parliament. ''The decision reads that after the accession to Schengen by air and sea on March 31, there will be a date in 2024 for the lifting of checks at the land borders. After March 31, Bulgaria will no longer be an observer at the decision-making table. Bulgaria will be a full member, participating in the discussions and having its right to vote", Mariya Gabriel explained.

There will be an increase in the salaries of employees working in the overseas representations and the budget of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad will be increased, Deputy Premier Gabriel said. For 2024, the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been increased by more than EUR 7.5 million
