32,687 horses are bred in Bulgaria, more than one third are thoroughbreds

The first meeting of Bulgaria's Advisory Council on Horses was held at the Ministry of Agriculture. It was announced at the forum that 32,687 horses are registered and bred in the country. Of these, 12,178 animals are under selection control, which are bred in 744 farms. 

The assisted animals for 2022 in the category of endangered breeds such as the Karakachan, Danube, French, Eastern Bulgarian breed are 6,918 horses. 

More than 7,700 horses were financed under the "de minimis" programme and under the aid to Ukraine programme, statistics show.
