We should not blame the euro for our own fears and failures. If Bulgaria adopts the single currency, the system with which we measure our economic success or failure will be in euros instead of leva, banker and economist Levon Hampartsumyan said for the BNR. In his words, Bulgarians should not to be afraid of the euro. The currency conversion will be at the expense of the state, without fees and commissions.

''As regards the mortgage loans, there will be no rounding of figures. The currency conversion will most likely be automatic because re-signing such a large number of contracts would be an administrative nightmare", the banker pointed out. ''The National Bank will exchange leva for euros indefinitely. This money will not lose its value after the adoption of the euro", the banker assured and referred to Germany where people still keep around 30 billion Deutsche Marks in their homes.
