Nexo files lawsuit in the US against Bulgaria

"Nexo" company has filed a lawsuit against Bulgaria in an international arbitration court in the USA. This has been reported by the investigative site "Bird" on Facebook with a link to the website of the American institution. The lawsuit was filed on January 18 and is against the Ministry of Finance and the General Prosecutor's Office. More details about the claim are not provided.

A year ago - on January 12, the law enforcement authorities conducted an operation against the Nexo cryptobank and four people were brought in as defendants in the investigation against the company. They were investigated for leading and participating in an organized criminal group with the aim of money laundering, tax crimes, computer fraud and unlicensed banking activity since 2018. The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office terminated the criminal proceedings against Nexo on December 22, 2023 due to lack of sufficient evidence of a committed crime.
