An injured Canadian ski racer was transported from Bansko to Sofia by a helicopter of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS), Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov announced on Facebook. Canadian alpine skier Liam Wallace, a participant in the FIS Alpine World Cup in Bansko, was transported to Sofia as the medical team at the ski slope assessed that his condition required emergency medical assistance.
The Slovak helicopter, used for the upcoming Alpine Ski World Cup event, has taken Wallace to the helipad at St. Ekaterina Hospital, after which he was transferred to Pirogov Hospital. It is not clear yet what injuries the Canadian has sustained and what his condition is.
