The town of Apriltsi, located in the Balkan Mountains, is hosting one of the most colorful and delicious Bulgarian festivals - the Festival of Bacon and Mulled Rakia. On February 24 and 25 the mountain town, nestled at the foot of Mount Maragidik, is expected to welcome more than 10,000 Bulgarian and foreign guests. They will be able to try the meal "Babina Gozba/ Granny’s Stew", prepared in a large pan, as well as other traditional Balkan specialties. Strong mulled brandy will be available everywhere. Thanks to its healing properties, all guests will stay in good health throughout the year, said the Municipality of Apriltsi, which organizes the event.
The festive program includes a series of culinary competitions, such as a competition for the most tender and tasty bacon, for the most delicious pastry dish, for the most tasty and aromatic rakia, for the most delicious and fancy appetizer, etc. The guests will be entertained by amateur folklore groups from the region and from all over the country. They will also present local traditions and customs.
