Challenges facing the global economy and their impact on a regional and national level were discussed in Sofia by the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, at a meeting with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev. The two talked about the need to increase economic growth after the Covid-19 pandemic and overcoming the economic consequences of the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, BTA reports.

Investments in education and the promotion of competitiveness as a growth factor are highlighted as key for Bulgaria and Europe. The need for targeted measures to reduce inflation in Bulgaria was also emphasized.
