Bulgaria will have a special day in British Columbia and in the city of Vancouver. May 24 will be declared Bulgaria Day. This was announced by Velislava Panova, Consul General of Bulgaria in Toronto.
Velislava Panova pointed out that the Days of Bulgaria in Canada, which will take place on April 19, are organized for the third consecutive year.
"In British Columbia, we are organizing them for the 5th time in a row, but for the first time they will be held in the city of Salmon Arm," Panova added and explained how they chose this particular city. "To my surprise, last year we discovered that one of the farms there produces Bulgarian-style yogurt. We were intrigued why they do it - if there are Bulgarians there, if they have Bulgarian roots. It turned out that this farm was bought more than 40 years ago by Danes who decided to bring the best things from Europe to Canada when they migrated. One of them was Bulgarian yogurt."
