50 years since the invention of the copper bromide vapor laser

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Solid State Physics is officially celebrating 50 years since the invention of the copper bromide vapor laser today. This laser is a Bulgarian invention, launched for the first time by Academician Nikola Sabotinov in 1974. It is a new and improved version of the copper atom laser and is the most powerful and highly effective gas laser in the visible spectrum. It has been patented in Bulgaria, the US, Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan and Australia.
