6.8% rise in average salary registered in the first quarter of the year

The gross domestic product grew by 1.7% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year, and the gross added value – by 2.2%, the National Statistical Institute has reported.

Final consumption registered a growth of 4.1%; gross fixed capital formation increased by 7.7%, while exports of goods and services decreased by 1% and imports by 3.8%.

In the first quarter of the year, the average monthly salary increased by 16.8% to reach EUR 1,123 compared to the first three months of 2023. The largest rise was observed in the sectors "Other activities", "Hotel and restaurant industry", "Real estate" and "Construction".
