The Council of Ministers approved the provision of a grant of EUR 30,000 for local vaccine production in Nigeria, with the beneficiary being the National Agency for Vaccine and Drug Research in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The project is being implemented under the "Special Measure to Strengthen Manufacturing Capacities and Access to Vaccines, Medicines and Health Technologies in Africa" and is part of the EU's regional initiative "Team Europe" for the production and access to vaccines, medicines and health technologies in sub-Saharan Africa. Bulgaria is already participating in the regional initiative, having provided financial support for the establishment of local vaccine production in 2022, in collaboration with the EU Delegation in Abuja, the government press service reported.
