Caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov promised an increased police presence at predetermined locations on election day, 9 June, when elections will be held for National Assembly and for European Parliament. The police will be stationed at “points where gatherings of people are expected before being “herded” to the polling stations.”

It is a normal thing for the number of reports of vote-buying to go up days away from the election, Minister Stoyanov said. However, their numbers are comparable to the last election, and there has been no significant rise in numbers.

The structures of the Interior Ministry have so far received over 200 reports of election legislation violations, and 80 pre-trial proceedings have been initiated. No new vote-buying methods have been ascertained, and the pre-election campaigning is going smoothly, Minister Stoyanov said.
