It is not yet known who is going to represent the country at the NATO summit to be held in mid-July in Washington DC, caretaker PM Dimitar Glavchev told reporters, and went on that he is hoping there will be a regular government by then which will choose who will lead the Bulgarian delegation. “If there is no regular government by that time, I shall refer the matter to the National Assembly, we are a parliamentary republic after all, to decide who should lead the delegation and what mandate to give them for talks,” PM Glavchev said.

Asked who will represent Bulgaria at the Washington summit, President Rumen Radev stated on Monday that this decision is within the powers of the Council of Ministers “with all ensuring consequences and historical responsibility because this is an existential summit at which decisions about war and peace will be made.” The Bulgarian president stated further that if he is chosen he is going to uphold the position he has already expressed for seeking a diplomatic road to ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.
