Trombonist Carla Köllner in a joint concert with the BNR Big Band in Sofia

The brilliant German trombonist Carla Köllner will for the first time perform with the Bulgarian National Radio Big Band in the final concert of the season - on 27 June at 7 pm in the First Studio of the Bulgarian National Radio under the baton of Antoni Donchev, conductor of the BNR's Big Band.

Presenting new European music for big bands is a trademark of maestro Antoni Donchev who this time will lead the audience on an exciting journey into the music of Carla Köllner.

Only 30 years old, Carla already has an impressive biography and stands out as one of Europe's brightest young jazz musicians. Her visit to Sofia comes days before the release of her album Carla Köllner Big Band.

Carla Köllner studied jazz trombone with Ansgar Stripeens at the Folkwang University of the Arts and studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory as well as composing for Big Band at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main. In December 2021, Carla Köllner presented her all original program for Big Band performed by the Jazz Orchestra of Essen, Germany.



Carla Köllner is part of the funk band TILAR which won first place at the SpardaJazzAwards, and has been on stage since 2022 with the German pop-rock band AnnenMayKantereit.
