Among the songs participating in the song contest "Burgas and the Sea 2024" is "You promised me" by the HighLight Vocal Ensemble. The song will be performed by 20 talented young singers from the HighLight Singing Academy. Some of them are well known to the audience as winners of TV singing shows, national and international singing events.

All of them co-wrote the music and lyrics of the song "You promised me" during one of the summer camps organised by Iskra Milkova, the team leader of the HighLight Singing Academy. Petar Alexiev, the leader of the vocal ensemble, arranged and orchestrated the song. It was his idea to include classical instruments in the recording.

You Promised Me" is about being separated and staying together in spirit. As some of the participants have since gone abroad to study, the lyrics reassure the young talents that they will always be together, by each other's side, no matter where they are in the world.

The National Song Contest "Burgas and the Sea" was first organised in 1973. In its current form, the competition aims to promote Bulgarian music and support composers, poets and artists. It is traditionally held on the first weekend in August, but this year's edition will be on 28 July.
