Bulgaria's Svetlana Kamenova started with a convincing victory in the 57 kg category of the Olympic boxing tournament in Paris, defeating Michaela Walsh of Ireland by 5-0 judges' votes in the quarter-finals.

Svetlana's next opponent is two-time world champion Yu-Ting Lin of Taiwan, one of those implicated in the gender determination testing scandal. The match is to be played on August 4. The two have already met in the ring. In March 2023, Lin Yu-Ting defeated Svetlana at the world championships in Delhi, India. But then because of the scandal over her gender, the bronze medal was stripped from her and handed to the Bulgarian.

Svetlana is the European champion from Belgrade 2024 and silver medallist from the championships of the Old Continent from Bucharest 2014 and Budva 2022, silver medallist from the European Games in Poland in 2023.
