Some of the best mountain runners in Bulgaria will try to break the records of the last 13 years at the mountain race to Cherni Vrah this Sunday. The athletes will try to cover the distance from the centre of Sofia to the Cherni Vrah peak in less than 1.36:45 and 1.54:30 for men and women respectively. The event is part of the great sports celebration traditionally organised by Sofia Municipality, the Bulgarian Tourist Union, the Vitosha Nature Park and the Marathon Association on the occasion of the 129th anniversary of organised tourism in Bulgaria.

Exactly at 9am on August 25, near the Lovers' Bridge next to the National Palace of Culture (NDK), the traditional mountain run "Vitosha Run - from NDK to Cherni Vrah" will start - an 18 kilometre route with a total positive gradient of 1734 metres. At the same time, two other hikes will start - one from the Aleko hut and the Golden Bridges, and the other from the village of Vitosha. Zheleznitsa. The second one begins at 7.30 am. On Cherni Vrah itself, the mountaineers will take part in the National Tourist Convention.
