Ahmed Dogan's Movement for Rights and Freedoms has filed an application with the Patent Office to retain the trademark "DPS - Rights and Freedoms", sources have confirmed to BNR. The application was submitted on 29 July this year and the necessary state fees for the examination have been paid. It is unclear whether the examination will be completed before the registration of the DPS electoral lists for the upcoming early parliamentary elections on 27 October, and whether this will affect which of the two DPS factions will register the lists with the CEC.

The party has regularly contested elections in the country since 1990 and has often played a key role in government, although it has never won an election. Two months ago, however, DPS split in two. Some members rallied around co-leader Delyan Peevski, while others supported honorary leader and DPS founder Ahmed Dogan.
