According to the Little People of Bulgaria National Organization, there are about 450 people with short stature, both adults and children, living in Bulgaria.

According to the chairman of the organization, Svetoslav Chernev, access to the urban environment and to public transport are invariably present among the problems of people with short stature. In this regard, more tolerance is needed for people who have difficulty moving and crossing the street. They are treated with the most understanding in Burgas, where the urban environment is tailored to the little people.

As for medical care, people with short stature in Bulgaria are grateful to the teams from the Military Medical Academy in Sofia for the invaluable medical assistance they provide.

For the more specific examinations or for consumables, there is still much to be desired - refusals are often received from the Health Insurance Fund, and then other options need to be sought.
