The village of Oryahovitsa, Stara Zagora region, today celebrates its symbol - the walnut tree.

There will be a Festival of the Walnut with a varied programme featuring the Kazanlahsko Nastroenie (Kazanlak Cheer) Orchestra, the soloist of the Trakia Ensemble Darina Slavcheva, the Kalofer Male Bagpipe Ensemble and other folklore ensembles. In addition to the concerts, there will be a bazaar of Bulgarian products and souvenirs, a culinary exhibition and a barbecue.

The organisers from the Oryahovitsa Village Hall and the Stara Zagora Municipality recall the Bulgarian proverb: "He who plants an orchard does it for himself, he who plants a walnut does it for posterity".
