The old button lift in the village of Govedartsi, Samokov Municipality, which takes tourists to the peak of Malyovitsa in the Rila Mountains, is to be modernised as a four-seater chairlift with a capacity of 1,520 people per hour. A proposal has been submitted to the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection - Sofia by the company that owns the lift.

The aim is to upgrade the existing facility by replacing the bottom and top stations, the towers, the cable and the transport units. The chair lift will follow the track of the tow lift, which means that no new trees will be felled.

No new transport infrastructure is planned, so access to the facility will be via the old third class road Samokov - Madjare - Govedartsi - Malyovitsa and the existing forest road.

The investment plan will provide various modern facilities for sports and tourism and ensure the safety of visitors.
