At its meeting today, the Bulgarian government adopted a Decision to temporarily introduce border control on the internal Bulgarian-Romanian border, as well as to suspend the functioning of the border checkpoints on the internal Bulgarian-Romanian and Bulgarian-Greek borders.

The decision on temporary control aims to prevent possible security threats after the abolition of the border crossing checkpoints on the internal border.

Border checks will continue to be carried out for a period of six months, starting from January 1, 2025, after which they will be abolished.

We remind you that on December 12, the EU Council adopted a unanimous decision on the entry of Bulgaria and Romania into Schengen by land.
