12 settlements in Smolyan district are without electricity after the heavy snowfall yesterday. Settlements in the municipalities of Smolyan, Devin and Chepelare have been without electricity since last night due to fallen trees on the power grid. Teams from the electricity distribution company are working on-site. Traffic in the area is normal for winter conditions, reported the BNR’s correspondent in Smolyan, Radostina Chernokova.

The fallen snow provides excellent conditions for skiing in Pamporovo, informed the Mountain Rescue Service. About 25 cm of fresh snow has fallen in the resort and the snow cover there is nearly 75 cm. The temperature in Pamporovo this morning was minus 2 degrees Celsius.

Around 20 settlements are without electricity in Veliko Tarnovo district. The Pass of the Republic has been cleared and is passable after more than 7 hours of snowfall. Trucks with worn-out tires have been pulled out. Municipal roads are passable under winter conditions.
