The 22nd edition of the charity initiative Bulgarian Christmas under the patronage of President Rumen Radev continues.This year the campaign supports children with serious chronic diseases. By the end of last night's charity performance at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, which was attended by the President, nearly 1.5 million euro was collected, the Presidency said.
Since the start of the campaign on December 2, 310 000 fundraising text messages have been sent to the short donation number 1117, and voice calls have been made to 0900 1117 to support the cause. "Through the Bulgarian Christmas initiative, thousands of kind-hearted Bulgarians are carrying on the country's tradition of generosity, which has supported the treatment of children," the Presidency said. Donations for the initiative, as well as applications to help children in need of financial support for treatment, are accepted throughout the year.
The Bulgarian Christmas campaign to support the treatment of children was launched in 2003 on the initiative of President Georgi Parvanov, and the first charity performance was held on 25 December 2004.
