Ivaylo Ivanov has resigned from his post as Chief of Staff of Interior Minister Daniel Mitov and is no longer part of the Interior Ministry team. Ivanov does not want to be a cause for tension in society, the ministry’s press center announced.
GERB leader Boyko Borisov has also stated his position that the government has much more important work to do than to give rise to attacks from day one.

Ivaylo Ivanov was the institution’s chief secretary until 2021. He was dismissed from Stefan Yanev’s caretaker cabinet due to police violence during the protests against Borissov’s government in the summer of 2020. The then opposition called the protests and described them a “great people’s uprising.” Today, part of this opposition is participating in the new regular government.
