Europe will have to reform its governance structures so as to speed up the decision-making process and mobilize its resources, said President Rumen Radev at the opening of the forum of The Economist taking place in Sofia. We cannot afford to turn into EU periphery. Our agreement with the EU stipulates that we shall join Schengen and the Eurozone, Rumen Radev stated. There is a debate in society now but the question is when we shall join the Eurozone, and I believe that the Bulgarian government, parliament and all institutions will take the necessary steps and make the necessary decisions to make sure we join the Eurozone, the president said.

We must avoid a trade war, everyone stands to lose from such a war, it is an artificial barrier to free trade, the president said regarding the plans of the new US administration to impose tariffs on imports from the EU.
