A new law will normalize pricing along the supply chain

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food will draft a law aimed at normalizing relations along the entire supply chain – from primary production, through processors, the distribution of primary products and food, as well as wholesale and retail trade, Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov said at a briefing after a meeting on food prices convened by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov.

Minister Tahov said that through the new regulation, farmers will receive fair and sufficient income for their produce. He was adamant that through the protection of farmers, relief for consumers would also be achieved. "We will do it smartly – by regulating contracts across the entire chain, not through the artificial imposition of maximum markups", said Minister Tahov.
Work on the draft law will begin on February 17.
