Bulgaria will continue to provide strong support for Montenegro's European perspective, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev assured his Montenegrin counterpart Jakov Milatovic, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria. He stressed that Montenegro is also working to develop good neighborly relations, which can serve as an example for other countries aspiring to EU membership.

The Bulgarian head of state stated that the two countries are bound by a common commitment to the security, stability and prosperity of the entire region. He thanked Montenegro for its decision to send its contingent to NATO's Eastern Flank in the multinational battle group, which is on Bulgarian territory.

"I believe that the intensity of the talks at the level of the president, ministers and air carriers will soon lead to a decision to have a direct air connection between Podgorica and Sofia," Rumen Radev also said. According to him, there is still much to be desired in terms of trade and economic exchange, which is far from the potential of both countries.

Rumen Radev commented in front of journalists on the topic of the war in Ukraine to journalists.

“Europe cannot impose peace from a position of force,” he said. The head of state was categorical that Europe must work in cooperation with the United States to use this political will for a ceasefire. “From there, we will sit down at the table and, with the tools of diplomacy, with all possible mechanisms, we will seek a solution that will guarantee a just and lasting peace,” the head of state said.
