A Bulgarian citizen working in the UN system has died in Gaza

A Bulgarian citizen working in the UN system has died in Gaza today, according to preliminary information received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministry announced on its website.

Additional information will be announced at a later stage, after the Bulgarian side is informed of the results of the investigation of the circumstances surrounding the incident by the competent authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also informed.

Reuters reported, citing the United Nations, that one foreign worker was killed and five others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a UN facility in the central Gaza Strip. The Israeli army denies carrying out an attack on a UN facility.

The injured were working on demining Gaza, BNT reports.
