Bulgaria proposes to host a multinational maritime coordination center

Photo: Council of Ministers

Bulgaria is proposing the establishment of a multinational maritime coordination center to ensure safe shipping in the western Black Sea. The country is also offering to host this center, Premier Rosen Zhelyazkov said in Paris where he is attending the Ukraine Security Summit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Bulgarian proposal envisages that the centre will provide round-the-clock maritime surveillance and early warning for potential threats and hostile activities, and improve the resilience of critical underwater infrastructure in the Black Sea.
