The number of work accidents is increasing

Work accidents last year were 114 more than in 2023, while deaths decreased by a quarter, the National Social Security Institute reports. A total of 3,108 work accidents were declared during this period - most of them occurred at work, and 447 happened on the way to or from work.

Fatal accidents were 64, four of which involved women. The biggest number of fatal accidents occurred in the economic sectors of “Construction” - 16, “Manufacturing” - 11, “Transport, storage and posts” - 9, “Trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” - 8.

Work accidents were registered in 80 out of a total of 88 economic divisions. The lost calendar days from accidents at work totalled 164,478.
