Plainclothes officers, unmarked cars to monitor traffic

Ministry of the Interior prepares for Easter with increased road checks and traffic enforcement

The Ministry of the Interior announced in a briefing that it is taking all necessary measures to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the upcoming Easter holidays

Police teams will be stationed mainly at the exits of major cities, key intersections, motorways, high-speed sections and areas with a high concentration of accidents. They will be on the lookout for all kinds of offences, including driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. In addition, police teams of plainclothes officers in unmarked vehicles will circulate in traffic to look out for violations.

The briefing also revealed that last week, a driver was caught speeding 47 times on Cherni Vrah Boulevard in Sofia between August 2024 and February this year. The driver paid discounted fines totalling more than EUR 5,000 after promptly paying the ticket issued.
